A Chester County stray dog is officially safe and warm, writes Cheryl Hanna for Pet Rescue Report.
For the past five months, a Doberman Pinscher has been running around the local area. Neighbors affectionally called the dog Rudolph Kringle, or Rudy for short, but no one seemed to know where the dog came from or to whom he belonged to.
Residents referred to Rudy as “the neighborhood dog.” With no information about his past and no one to take him in, GoodBoy Dog Recovery stepped in. The organization helps capture loose dogs and bring them to safety.
While the first initial search was unsuccessful, the next morning a thermal drone was able to locate the lost pup.
Rudy was found by rescuers hiding in a pile of trash to try and keep warm. When the team approached to humanely capture him, Rudy “urinated in fear and began squealing loudly.” Rudy was safely lifted by two team members and placed in the van.
Despite neighbors not wanting “the neighborhood dog” taken away, Rudy has no microchip, leash, or other identifying information.
Today, Rudy is safe and warm and is in foster care. After the required stray hold, Rudy will be moved to a rescue organization to wait for his forever family.
