Nonprofit Main Line Veterans is currently seeking donors to help honor local veterans with a new Devon Veterans’ Memorial, writes Anne E. Hill for Main Line Today.
The volunteer nonprofit organization plans to overhaul the current Devon Veterans’ Memorial, which sits along Route 30. A renovation will ensure passersby can see the site and each veterans’ inscribed name.
The new memorial will sit across from the Devon Horse Show. A higher flagpole and a larger dedicated space will make the memorial more visible to both drivers and pedestrians.
Two parking spaces will be removed from the current First Commonwealth Bank to complete the project.
To complete the new Devon Veterans’ Memorial, Main Line Veterans has called upon community supporters for monetary donations. Donors can sponsor a custom paver with a $250 donation, a flag pole with a $1,00 donation, and a granite wall for $2,500, among other donation tiers.
The new Devon memorial comes as one of several changes to revamp Main Line Veterans in recent years. Upon joining the organization in 2024, board president Stacey Ballard aimed to reinvigorate the organization.
The rebranding included a new logo and website, in addition to redesigning the Devon memorial.
Under the plan for the new Devon site, volunteers will regularly maintain the memorial to keep it readily visible to the public.
