Get to Know Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce’s New President

West Chester resident Laurie Ryan is now the President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce.

Laurie Ryan, who led Exton Region Chamber of Commerce, has found a new role as the president of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce (GWCC).

After attending St. Joseph’s University, Ryan’s working career started at Kellogg’s, driving sales growth for a decade and honing her marketing skills. She later took time off to care for her family, even picking up a part-time job at one of West Chester’s beloved small businesses, The Painted Plate.

Ryan reentered the workforce full-time, finding herself becoming involved with area chambers and seeing the impact they have on local businesses and the community. Landing the role of president at the Exton Chamber, which she had served in since 2015, she witnessed how having a supportive hub for all things communication and outreach made businesses thrive.

When former president Katie Walker stepped down, she felt an urge to apply for the position, citing that the chance to make a larger impact wasn’t something she wanted to miss. Ryan officially began her duties at the start of November.

She sees the influence and effect that GWCC has on its members and leaders, intending to bring new energy and positivity to the smooth-running organization. Some of her goals include working closely with the Board of Directors, gaining a better understanding of the needs of each Chamber member, and finding ways to enhance what the Chamber offers. She aims to continue being a resourceful collective for West Chester and county businesses.

Ryan has one key piece of advice for growing leaders: use your voice and your presence.

“Show up and speak up. Your presence and voice matter—not just for your own growth, but for the success of your organization, the Chamber, and the broader community,” she said in a recent GWCC spotlight.

While she may have plenty of people counting on her, that doesn’t stop Ryan from enjoying her free time as a West Chester resident. She loves to meet people through volunteering and takes road trips often with her husband.
