Enjoy Scenic Fall Fishing at These Chester County Fishing Spots

Two Chester County fishing spots offer residents the perfect way to enjoy fall foliage while catching local fish.

Summer may be over, but Chester County residents still have plenty of fishing spots to visit to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Here are two local fishing spots where you can catch a variety of local fish while taking in scenic fall foliage.

Marsh Creek State ParkDowningtown. While summer boat and kayak rentals may be over for the season, Marsh Creek Lake still brings plenty of opportunities for fall fishing. The five hundred and thirty-five-acre lake boasts a variety of species. Fish for bass, walleye, and bullhead, as well as perch and pumpkinseed. Beyond the fall season, the local fishing spot also offers ice fishing in the winter.  

Schuylkill River—Chester County. A water trail stretching one hundred and thirty miles, the Schuylkill River has several access points throughout Chester County. Fish for smallmouth bass as well as both flathead and channel catfish, which can be found in the river’s middle and lower reaches. The flathead catfish remains one of the region’s most impressive catches, with a local fisherman’s recent catch weighting a record-breaking 72 pounds.
