Hit Breakfast Spot Mae’s Says Goodbye to West Chester

Mae's, a go-to breakfast spot in West Chester, has officially closed its doors as of August 17.

On Aug. 3, Mae’s West Chester, one of the many desirable breakfast spots on West Chester’s busy Gay Street, announced its closing for later in the month.

Owners Josh and Erin Taggart addressed their customers via Facebook with a simple, heartfelt letter detailing their departure after five years.

It reads, “This journey has meant the world to us, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing customers, dedicated staff, and supportive family. Thank you—truly—for every visit, every kind word, and every moment shared with us. We couldn’t have done any of this without you.”

Commenters took to the replies with well-wishes, compliments, and lamented the loss of amazing food and good people.

The couple did not offer a reason for the closure in their posts. On the day of closing, Aug. 17, they posted another, more personal statement regarding how their last business days were spent and how they are excited to see what the future brings.

“With that, thank you, West Chester. You have been nothing short of spectacular. This is not goodbye—just see you later,” they signed off.

If Mae’s was your go-to spot for breakfast, don’t worry, because West Chester has other options, including Market Street Grill, Roots Cafe, Two Birds Cafe, DK Diner, and more.
