Family Service of Chester County is hosting two professional development workshops this fall at the United Way of Chester County building in Exton.

The sessions, led by family therapist and adoption specialist Sarah Rosenthal, LCSW, are designed to give counselors, social workers, and case managers practical tools for supporting children and families affected by trauma.

The October 24 workshop, Healing Early Childhood Trauma Through Strengthening Family Bonds, will focus on developmental stages, attachment, and strategies for building resilience in families.

The November 7 session, Healing the Wounds of Family Disruption, will address the unique challenges faced by children in foster care, adoption, or guardianship, using attachment theory, play, and narrative approaches to foster healing.

The workshops take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

“These trainings give people on the front lines the tools they need to really connect with kids and families,” said Kevin Hayes, Counseling Director at Family Service. “So many of the children we see have gone through tough situations early in life. What makes the difference is when the adults around them know how to bring safety, trust, and healing into the picture.”
