Chester County residents have no shortage of horseback riding trails to visit to enjoy the last weeks of warm summer weather, write Lisa Dukart and Anne E. Hill for Main Line Today.
Here are two trails in Chester County where both experienced and novice riders can enjoy a late summer day on horseback.
Marsh Creek State Park—Downingtown. Open to the public and spanning over 1,700 acres, Marsh Creek State Park boasts a variety of activities, including horseback riding. Riders can enjoy 11.5 miles of horseback riding trails throughout the park in addition to horse trailer parking on the west side.
Located within the park, Hope Springs Farm offers individual and group riding lessons so newer riders can enjoy scenic views throughout the park with an accessible beginner lesson.
Sheeder Mill Farm—Spring City. A paper mill turned horse farm, Sheeder Mill offers riding lessons and various trails. 2023 trail riding prices begin at $40 per ride, and private guides are available for an upcharge.
The farm also raises horses for sale so riders of all experience levels can enjoy what the family-run farm has to offer.
