Conshohocken’s Kathy Romano Speaks Up After WMMR Exit

Conshohocken's Kathy Romano opens up about her WMMR departure, listener memories, and what’s next after The Preston & Steve Show.

After more than two decades on air with “The Preston & Steve Show”, Conshohocken local Kathy Romano is adjusting to life off the mic, writes Victor Fiorillo for Philadelphia Magazine.

Romano opened up about her abrupt departure from WMMR this spring, a moment she said ready to pass out.

The radio personality joined the show in 2003, back when it was still with Y100 and based in Conshohocken. She moved to the borough around the same time, only for the show to relocate shortly after. Still, she stayed put, and over the years became a beloved morning voice across the region.

Romano reminisced about wild listener to trips to Jamaica, her private-detective level research skills, and the horse that came to the studio for her birthday.

The heart of the interview lies in her reflections on the connections she made. Romano recalls meeting a woman who told her that she helped her through a rough time in her life.

Sincer her firing by WMMR’s parent company, Beasley Media Group, Romano has been exploring new possibilities. Some are in media, while others are more entrepreneurial. She’s also catching up on rest and staying active in Conshohocken.
