Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber is this year’s spokesperson for Nottingham-based Herr’s annual chip-flavor contest, Flavored by Philly: Crunch Off, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The contest this year has a different format and higher stakes.
In the past three years, flavors with the most votes included the 2022 Long Hots & Sharp Provolone with its roasted peppers and mild heat, the 2023 Corropolese tomato pie chip with sweet tomato sauce and Romano cheese, and the 2024 Romano’s stromboli-inspired chip featuring ham, salami, and Provolone.
The flavors were only available during the voting period.
This year, the past three winning flavors will compete to join Herr’s everyday chip lineup.
When asked about his favorite from the three, Schwarber gave a diplomatic answer.
“They’re all different, unique flavors, but they’re all very tasty, like something I would eat on a daily basis,” he said.
As an Ohio native, Schwarber was used to eating Grippo’s. However, since he moved to Philadelphia, he has been a Herr’s guy. As a Phillies sponsor, the company stocks its snacks in the clubhouse.
“I go to the pantry [in the clubhouse] and they’re sitting right there,” said Schwarber.
You can vote for your favorite flavor until Aug. 4.
