Farm Boy BBQ Offers Authentic Central Texas Flavor in Malvern

Chef Paul Marshall uses traditional central Texas barbecue methods to offer delicious entrées and sides at a cozy, rustic Farm Boy BBQ.

Malvern’s Farm Boy BBQ offers delicious and authentic Texas barbecue flavor right in Chester County, writes Marilyn Johnson for Philly Grub.

A native of Louisiana, Chef Paul Marshall became interested in outdoor smoking and barbecue techniques after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. He set up an outdoor smoker at a Malvern Sunoco, as an outdoor cooking setup allowed others to safely gather and eat outside.

The meals Marshall developed ultimately inspired him to open a permanent brick-and-mortar restaurant in October 2023.

The space features cozy, Southern-inspired interiors and rustic décor. The restaurant is also conveniently located three miles from the Fine Wine & Good Spirits on Lancaster Ave., as Farm Boy BBQ is BYOB.

The menu features smoked prime meats made with reverse-flow wood-fired smokers custom-made in Texas. Favorite menu items include brisket, smoky pulled pork, and pork ribs made with a house-made seasoning blend.

The menu doesn’t end with smoked meats: the restaurant also features delicious sides and appetizers, including house-fried tortilla chips, hand-cut onion rings, smokehouse nachos, and baked beans with brisket and pork.

In addition to walk-in dining, they also offers catering and availability for in-house parties and events.
