This Chesco Town is Known for Balancing Indie Charm and Industrial Legacy

The borough of Phoenixville, with its mix of boutiques and farm-to-table dining, strikes a balance between indie charm and industrial legacy.

With its eclectic mix of local boutiques, farm-to-table dining, a historic theater, and more, the borough of Phoenixville strikes a perfect balance between indie charm and its industrial legacy, writes Mary McCarthy for the Islands

It also hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year, including Firebird Festival, Dogwood Festival, and Blobfest

The town has numerous dining spots, making the hardest part choosing between the great options. Molly Maguire’s is one of several pubs and bistros along Bridge Street, featuring Irish cuisine favorites, live music, and a sizable craft beer selection.

Aman’s Indian Bistro has served a popular lunch buffet since 1999. Gemelli is an ideal place to enjoy dessert.

Phoenixville’s crown jewel is the nonprofit Colonial Theatre, which was once used as a backdrop in the iconic 1958 movie The Blob. Today, the theater hosts concerts, films, and other live performances.

Phoenixville is ideal for nature lovers as well, as the riverside borough is surrounded by outdoor gems.

The Schuylkill River and French Creek meet in town, while nearby French Creek State Park is the largest contiguous forest between Washington, D.C., and New York. The park’s many offerings include a campground, hiking, biking, and birding.
