Kennett Square’s Olympic gold medalist Justin Best and fashion designer fiancée Lainey Duncan embraced vintage style for their engagement photos, with utterly charming results, writes Kristen Schott for the Philadelphia Magazine.
The couple first met at age ten on a field trip to the Liberty Bell and reconnected in 2015 when they were cast as dance partners in Unionville High School’s West Side Story production.
They started dating on the closing night of the show.
They were together for nine years before Justin, after winning a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, proposed under the Eiffel Tower.
Since both of them enjoy vintage aesthetics, they decided on the Guild House Hotel in Philadelphia as the perfect spot to begin their engagement shoot.
“We loved all the beautiful wood and cozy vintage feel: It feels like how we might decorate our house together someday,” said Lainey.
They later moved on to Two Robbers in Fishtown for a second location.
“We loved how different it felt from the Guild House aesthetically and loved getting to have such a fun and playful vibe in their space,” said Lainey.
The couple will tie the knot this fall at Waterworks by Cescaphe.
