Four Philadelphia-area medical centers have earned a place on Premier’s 100 Top Hospitals rankings for 2025, including one in Chester County, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The annual program determined the top hospitals in the nation based on clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial health. This year, researchers evaluated 2,599 short-term, acute-care, non-federal hospitals in the country.
Chester County Hospital, part of Penn Medicine, ranked No. 14 in the Large Community Hospitals category. The campus is located in West Chester. This is the fourth year the hospital has made the 100 Top rankings.
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical, both also part of Penn Medicine, and St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus, part of the St. Luke’s University Health Network, have also made the list.
Overall, compared to their peers, the hospitals that made the 100 Top for 2025 saw significantly better outcomes, including 39 percent fewer inpatient deaths, 26.5 percent fewer cases of patient complications, a 32 percent drop in health-care-associated infections, and 18 percent lower costs per inpatient discharge.
