A Haven Prepares to ‘Give Grief Hope’ by Raising $75,000 for Grieving Children and Families

A Haven’s grief support programs serve children, families, and schools across Chester County and beyond.

Exton-based nonprofit A Haven is calling on the community to “Be the Refuge” and support grieving children and their caregivers through its annual fundraising campaign, Give Grief Hope, running from June 1-15. With a goal to raise $75,000, this community-driven initiative helps ensure that no family or school has to pay for grief support services.

Since its launch in 2018, this annual campaign has raised more than $400,000 to fund A Haven’s grief support programs, which serve children, families, and schools across Chester County and beyond.

The campaign officially kicks off June 2 at 4 at Chop House in Exton, where 15 percent of each bill will be donated to A Haven when guests mention the organization. Community members can also contribute to the campaign directly by visiting A Haven.

A Haven’s mission is to partner with grieving families by providing grief support, community outreach, education, and hope. Services include both onsite support for children and their caregivers and in-school grief groups for students — all provided at no cost to families or school districts.

“In Pennsylvania, one in seven children will experience the death of a parent or sibling before adulthood, and we know that number is even higher when we consider losses of other types” said Kate Lannan, A Haven’s Education Director. “A Haven is the only organization in Chester County solely dedicated to walking alongside the one in seven, helping them find healing and hope.”
