Lennar, Already Building Multiple Chester County Projects, Looks to Further Expand in Region

Lennar, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, is currently developing multiple projects in Chester County and aims to expand locally.

Lennar, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, is currently developing multiple projects in Chester County and wants to further expand its Greater Philadelphia footprint, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Last year, the Miami-based company ranked as the second-largest homebuilder in the region with 652 closings, behind only NVR, which had over 1,300 closed sales. Lennar surpassed Fort Washington-based Toll Brothers, which sold 462 homes in the region.

The company is looking to increase the annual number of its closed sales to 1,000 in the next several years as it looks for additional development opportunities across the region.

“Our goal is to continue to grow [the] Philadelphia [division], sort of from the inside out,” said Tench Tilghman, Lennar’s Greater Philadelphia area division president. “We’re always going to be looking at the collar counties, from Philadelphia outward, but we are definitely interested in pursuing opportunities a bit further than our current boundaries.”

The company is currently developing the 65-townhome Downingtown Ridge community, where units start in the low $500,000s. Also under construction is the Phoenixville Heights community, which is offering 188 townhomes that start in the low $400,000s.
