The Housing Authority of Chester County will be opening its waitlist for Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program for the first time in twelve years, writes Praveen for Business News This Week.
The waitlist will be open for one day, May 15, from 9 AM to 6 PM. This provides eligible individuals and families living in Chester County to access affordable housing support through vital federal programs.
The Public Housing Program is available to low-income families, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. It provides safe and affordable rental homes owned and managed directly by HACC.
Meanwhile, the Housing Choice Voucher Program provides eligible participants with rental assistance to lease housing in the private market. Rent payments are subsidized by vouchers, enabling individuals and families to choose where they want to live, as long as the landlord agrees to participate and the unit meets the program’s requirements.
“This is an incredibly important step forward,” said Pat Bokovitz, Director of Chester County’s Department of Human Services. “Housing is foundational to health, education, and financial well-being.”
