Downingtown native and former QVC intern Ireland Jimmyer is one of the executive producers for this year’s Penn State Dance Marathon, better known as THON, according to a staff report from Penn State News.
THON is a student-run philanthropic event that raises funds to help fight pediatric cancer. Dancers are challenged to stay on their feet for 46 hours – no sleeping or sitting allowed. The event will take place at the Bryce Jordan Center from Feb. 21 to 23.
The event is an even longer affair for Jimmyer and two other seniors who are serving as executive producers. The livestream will be available starting at 4 PM on Feb. 21 and wrap up around 4:45 PM on Feb. 23 – which means that the production team will be running the show for 49 hours.
This is in addition to all of the required setup and takedown, which starts hours before the event and ends hours later.
Along with the three executive producers, around five dozen students make up the 46 LIVE team, which supports THON-related events.
