Montgomery County-based Greene Tweed & Co., a manufacturer of parts for U.S. military vehicles since the Civil War, is looking to boost its public profile with a new, multiyear sponsorship deal with U.K.-based sports carmaker McLaren, writes Joseph N. DiStefano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The company, with a Kulpsville factory and labs and Lansdale offices, along with plants on three continents, is the new sponsor of McLaren’s Formula One and Arrow McLaren IndyCar teams.
Greene Tweed’s logo will be featured on McLaren race cars, with its engineering team collaborating with the race teams in “exploring design, manufacturing, and delivery of high-performance and resilient materials,” said the company.
Greene Tweed has been supplying parts for McLaren for the last four years. According to Allon Bloch, Greene Tweed chairman, the company engineers “the toughest parts – thermoplastics, elastomers, composites” for missions that “can’t fail.”
The manufacturer has also supplied parts for NASA, SpaceX, Gulfstream, and Boeing, as well as a number of computer, energy, chemical, and other companies.
The new sponsorship will provide Greene Tweed with significant exposure, as Formula One’s audience is over a million viewers per race, nearly double 2016 figures.
