The Chester County Opportunities Industrialization Center (CCOIC) recently launched the first-ever Work Enclave program in West Chester at the Charles A. Melton Center. The program, which launched in October and lasted for five weeks, consisted of a group of 17 intergenerational students from the West Chester, Phoenixville, and Coatesville areas.
The Work Enclace Workforce Team included Alicia Buchanan, Asia Suber, and David Day, who led the new students into the next phase of their workforce journey.
“I am so elated at how the program continues to evolve to meet the needs, interests, and demands of our community and workforce,” said Javonna Wylie, President and CEO of Chester County OIC.
Wylie emphasizes CCOIC’s holistic approach to the Work Enclave, bringing in community partners as well as professional advisors to support the participants. Over the stint of the Work Englave program, participants were able to learn from presentations from partners, including Soyica White; Reginald A. Howard; Justin Brown; Open Hearth, Inc.; PA CareerLink® Chester County; The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County, Inc.; Nicholas Bucci, CFP®; 2Fish Cafe; West Chester Police Department, and more.
“The skills that they gain through the program not only add to their resume but also boost their confidence in their future job seeking,” Wylie stated.
