  • Jan. 2: Postpartum Adjustment Class. This class is designed to give parents an idea of what life is really like at home after you have a baby. Content covers physical recovery, emotional wellness, coping with sleep deprivation and a crying baby, self-care, and nurturing relationships with your partner. The facilitator is an RN, with a maternal mental health certification. This class is ideally taken prenatally; however, postpartum parents are welcome as well. Registration is Required. Please call 610-738-2300 or register online.
  • Jan. 7: Stop Smoking Now! This six-week cessation program is for smokers, vapers, and chewing tobacco users. Program participants are provided information and support on behavior modification and relaxation techniques to help them develop and follow through on a plan to quit. The class meets weekly to help you identify your vaping and tobacco-use triggers and deal with your withdrawal symptoms. The program includes a manual with information and strategies researched by the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the American Lung Association. Free Nicotine Patches are available for participants upon request. Individuals should begin to taper their vaping and tobacco use before the first day of class and should plan to quit using between the third and fifth week of class. This will be a virtual, online program offered through Zoom, and individuals must have access to a dependable internet connection, a webcam, and a printer to participate in this program. Registered participants will be emailed the Zoom link, program manual, and other materials at least two business days before the event. Participants are required to have their cameras on during each class. • Jan. 13: Struggles and Solutions. Struggles and Solutions is a group lifestyle coaching program. Each month, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will lead a discussion on an interesting, timely, and immediately useful topic about food, activity, stress, and wellness. Let us help you get motivated, break down barriers, set goals, and change your lifestyle. Registration is required; sign up here.
  • Jan. 18: Pre-Surgery Joint Replacement Education Class. Facing a knee or hip replacement can be a daunting task that many would like to put off, sometimes indefinitely. However, the more patients know about the preparation for surgery, hospitalization, and recovery, the more comfortable they are about the procedure. And their outcomes are usually better, too. Therefore, Chester County Hospital has assembled a team of experts who have thoughtfully created services, educational materials, and special amenities to make the joint replacement procedure as smooth as possible. Often a patient’s only regret is that they didn’t have the procedure sooner. This class is held the first Wednesday of each month at 12:00 PM, and the third Wednesday of each month at 4:00 PM. Registration Required: Register online or by phone at 610-738-2300.
  • Jan. 19: Pumping and Returning to Work. This 90-minute class is designed for women who have already attended the Prenatal Breastfeeding class and want more information on pumping breast milk and returning to work. Clients may attend the class prenatally (support person welcome) or in the first month postpartum (infants welcome). Topics covered include: different types of breast pumps, insurance coverage for pumps, when to start pumping, milk storage guidelines, transitioning to a bottle, establishing a pumping schedule, and women’s right to breastfeed in public and express breast milk while at work. Information on community resources for the support of continued breastfeeding will be given as well. The Prenatal Breastfeeding Class is not a firm prerequisite; it is just encouraged. The fee for this class is $25 and registration is required.
