Chester County Ranks in Pennsylvania’s Top Three for Longest Life Expectancy

Chester County is among the Pennsylvania counties with the longest life expectancy, according to a ranking by Stacker.

Chester County is among the Pennsylvania counties with the longest life expectancy, according to a ranking released by Stacker

Stacker identified the counties with the most life expectancy in Pennsylvania using 2024 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Life expectancy calculates the average number of years from birth that a person can be expected to live.

It is determined based on the number of deaths and the average number of people at risk of dying in a given period. 

Chester County came in second place in the state with an average expectancy of 81.1 years. This is 3.8 years more than the statewide average. 

Neighboring Montgomery County secured fourth place with an expectancy of 80.1 years, while Bucks County came in ninth in the state with 79.3 years. In contrast, Delaware County ranked lowest among the collar counties, placing at No. 20 overall with an expectancy of 77.6 years. 

The county with the highest life expectancy is Center County at 81.6 years.
