Philadelphia to Host Look-Alike Contest for Downingtown’s Miles Teller

Downingtown's Miles Teller in Top Gun: Maverick, center.

Those sporting a lampshade mustache and an abundance of Phillies hats will have their moment to shine during a Miles Teller look-alike contest, writes Beatrice Forman for The Philadelphia Inquirer

The fun and lighthearted competition, the first of its kind in the city, will kick off at 1 PM on Sunday. The winner will receive a free cheesesteak from Angelo’s Pizzeria

The event is part of a series of unofficial look-alike contests that have been popping up in cities throughout the country and Europe.

The trend started in New York City’s Washington Square Park in October. Actor Timothée Chalamet joined his own look-alike contest – and lost out to student Miles Mitchell, who dressed as the actor’s version of Willy Wonka and tossed candy at the audience.

Philadelphia selected Teller as its first look-alike celebrity for being one of the city’s lasting “White Boys of the Month” – internet jargon for a male celebrity who is attractive but somewhat approachable looking. In addition, Teller, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, is a diehard Eagles and Phillies fan.
