‘We Weren’t Able to Continue’: Dockside Bensalem Closes Without Warning
Dockside Bensalem, owned by veteran restaurateur Matt Rossi, closed without warning over the weekend, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“I think the easiest answer is just … financially we weren’t able to continue,” said Rossi. “It’s as simple and cut and dried as that.”
Rossi opened Dockside in April of last year at the former location of Water’s Edge. The expansive restaurant and catering facility featured a deck that offered impressive views of the Neshaminy Creek.
Employees and customers took to social media to express their displeasure about the suddenness of the shutdown and its timing which is so close to the holiday season.
Rossi admitted that the closure would force some of his customers to make other arrangements for their holiday parties.
“We’ve already talked to everybody, and every single person is being refunded,” he said. “Anything along those lines is being rectified.”
He added that there were no plans to file for bankruptcy protection and emphasized that all vendors were being paid.
In addition to Dockside, Rossi also abruptly closed the Northeast Philadelphia location of Nick’s Roast Beef.
