Malvern Father Shares Red October Moment with His Kids at Citizens Bank Park

Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos shares a special moment with his son after hitting a walk-off single to tie the playoff series 1-1.

Malvern resident Pete Salveson shared a special Red October moment with his family at the upper deck of Citizens Bank Park over the weekend, writes Abraham Gutman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Salveson, his wife, Courtney, and their sons, seven-year-old Colin and nine-year-old Owen, all love baseball. So when Salveson realized the game on Sunday would take place in the afternoon, he saw it as a perfect opportunity to take his family to experience Red October.

In addition to enjoying the game, the kids got to participate in several of the activities that Citizens Bank Park offers for children. The activities include a climbing wall as well as a batting cage.

As his life became busier, baseball turned out to be a dependable communal respite.

“It’s the one thing you can count on that we all do as a family,” said Salveson.

Bringing his kids to the game continues a tradition of family bonding that Salveson had previously established with his own father.

“I went to game 6 of the NLCS in 1993 with my dad,” he said. “I was 10.”
