Wayvine Winery & Vineyard in Nottingham is the perfect escape for true oenophiles who enjoy dry, low-intervention Pennsylvania wines.

Brothers James and Zach Wilson opened Wayvine Winery & Vineyard in Nottingham in 2013, writes Paul Vigna for Penn Live

For a long time, they used “their parents’ three-car garage and patio as an intimate getaway for a small crowd,” said James.

They were finally able to move to a building and grounds where the wine is now made eight years later.

The winery and the tasting room always bustle with activity, especially at weekends. Some visitors choose to drink wine at tables on the patio while others opt for picnic tables or bring their own chairs they put under a large tree or out in the field.

The winery specializes “in dry, low-intervention wines that embody the true essence of Pennsylvania’s terroir,” according to its website.

The wine is sold by the glass, by the bottle, and by the magnum.

Visitors can choose from different vinifera varietals, including Riesling and Pinot Noir. A couple of blends are available, along with five pét-nats, sparkling wines made in a more fizzy style.

Wayvine is one of the few wineries that grow and make wines from the Carmine grape, a vinifera cross of Carignane, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
