Wayvine Winery in Nottingham Hosts a Cross-Country Farm-to-Table Feast
Outstanding in the Field’s cross-country table-to-farm feast made a stop at Wayvine Winery & Vineyard in Nottingham last week, writes Erin Negley for LancasterOnline.
The sold-out dinner party happened during harvest time at the winery and vineyard owned by brothers Zach and James Wilson. Three days before the event, the duo opened a new tasting room in downtown Kennett Square. However, neither wanted to miss the opportunity the dinner presented.
“To kind of expand our horizons a little bit, partner with some new people,” said James Wilson. “Have a different thing going on that’ll drive more people out here to experience what we have going on.”
The event brought 107 people – each of whom paid $385 for dinner – to the Wayvine’s on-site tasting room, which is a bit more than the usual weekend crowd that gathers for wine, food trucks, and even sometimes homemade pizza made by the owners’ parents, Nancy and Dave.
The property started as a dairy farm before the brothers decided to invest in a different future by planting grapes for their wine.
Today, they harvest 75 tons of grapes annually which they use to make 50,000 bottles of estate-grown wine.
