2024 BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars – Robbe Healey
Illinois and Iowa native Robbe Healey is a Founding Member of Aurora Philanthropic Consulting.
Healey attended high school at James B. Conant in Hoffman Estates, Ill., and then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University and her master’s at Villanova University. Healey is an ACFRE (Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive), an FAFP (Fellow, Association of Fundraising Professionals), and an NHA (Nursing Home Administrator).
Aside from family, Healey credits Jane Howland, the Executive Director at Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council, with having a substantial impact on her career path.
“She hired me as the Director of Fund Development in 1982; it was the first full-time fundraising staff member in the council’s history,” stated Healey. “She took a chance on me, in her own words, hiring a lifelong Girl Scout who knew the mission inside and out — but who had never raised a dime. She invested in training and personal mentoring.
She saw in me something I had no idea was there. To say she was an influential mentor doesn’t even begin to describe her impact on me and my career path to this day.”
Throughout her career, Healey is proud of having accomplished great outcomes by working with, mentoring, or teaching those around her along the way.
“Their work, contributions to the profession, and dedication to creating an even better civil society are always an inspiration,” she stated.
Healey believes a successful leader is someone who has an unbridled passion for the work they do, regardless of the work, and who is confident in their skills — and also confident enough to acknowledge what they aren’t good at.
“That insight allows them to surround themselves with others who have the same passion for the work, while they assemble and/or develop a team that has all the skills abilities, and characteristics needed to make amazing things happen,” Healey said.
Of the 12 Principles of the Scout Law — Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent — Helpful resonates the most with Healey.
“As someone called to a career in the nonprofit sector, that has been a primary driver for me as long as I can remember,” she stated.
The Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will honor Healey and the 11 other BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars at an awards reception on Thursday, Oct. 17, at its new Program, Activity, and Resource Campus (PARC) in Exton. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available at Boy Scouts of America. For more information, contact Kristin Conran at kristin.conran@scouting.org.
