Crozer Health Ending All Operating Room Services at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park
Crozer Health, the financially distressed four-hospital system in Delaware County, is planning to end all operating room services at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park by next month, writes Kenny Cooper for the WHYY.
Crozer Health CEO Tony Esposito said that the move comes after the health system recorded a reduction “in the complement of general surgeons.”
“This strategic decision follows a thorough evaluation of the surgical case volumes and staffing changes,” he added. “This decision has been made with careful consideration and planning, and in consultation with key stakeholders, leaders and the surgeons currently operating at Taylor Hospital.”
The decision comes as Prospect Medical Holdings, Crozer’s parent company, is rushing to sell the system to New Jersey-based CHA Partners. Prospect agreed in February to sell Crozer within 270 days in a court-approved deal.
Crozer first engaged in the agreement with the attorney general’s office in October 2023, after the company ended vital services and programs at hospitals, laid off staff, and failed to pay its vendors.
With Delaware County Memorial and Springfield now virtually closed, the latest move is another blow to the health system in its ongoing sale negotiations.
