Malvern Student Passes Down the Junior Miss Ocean City Title
Junior Miss Ocean City Sarah Avellino will pass the crown to her successor at the 2025 Junior Miss Ocean City Pageant at the Music Pier, writes staff for Ocean City Sentinel.
Avellino, 15, is set to begin her sophomore year at Villa Maria Academy High School in Malvern. She was first introduced to the pageant world when looking for summer camps.
As her family vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey every summer, it seemed like a perfect fit.
Avellino started competing in the Little Miss Pageant, for girls aged 8 to 11. In her first year competing in the Junior Little Miss last summer, which is for girls aged 12 to 15, she won first place.
“When they called my name, I was in complete shock. I couldn’t even get words out. I was so proud I got up on that stage whether I won or not. It’s been such a great experience that I would love to do it again, maybe for Miss Ocean City. It is something I’m really proud of and I’m going to tell this story a lot of times in my life,” Avellino said.
Avellino noted that crowning her successor will be bittersweet, but that she’s excited for the next winner to wear the crown.
