Landenberg resident Erik Gudmundson will conduct post-race interviews and provide color commentary at the 29th running of the Willowdale Steeplechase on Saturday, May 14 in Kennett Square, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for Main Line Today.
Gudmundson became part of the announcing team for the first time this year and aims to bring the pageantry of equestrian sports to fans.
“I try to bridge the gap between seasoned professionals and first-timers, so everyone can enjoy their day at the races,” he said.
Being behind the microphone is nothing new for Gudmundson. He worked as both an FM radio announcer and a DJ, and he has done some voiceover work for television.
His current leadership position at an IT service provider requires strict attention to detail, which is a quality that helps him when prepping for Willowdale.
Gudmundson is also committed to the community and has served as the chair of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce. He is also active with the Chester County Community Foundation and the Chester County Workforce Development Board.
