Ivy Egger, Coatesville mosaic artist and owner of Vine Designs, has found solace in her artwork, reports Nick Iadonisi for 6ABC.
Almost all of her work is nature-inspired, with summer being her favorite season to pull inspiration from. Egger works primarily with mixed-media mosaic.
“Art serves as an inspiration. As far as my illness, definitely.” Egger said. “It’s called Glycogen Storage Disease Type 1A. I’m sure most people haven’t heard of it, it’s a liver illness.”
She noted that art works as a distraction, helping her cope with her chronic illness daily.
“My son had an illness a couple years ago, he had Acute Leukemia,” Egger added. “He finished treatment last June of 2023.”
While Egger was in the hospital with her son, as he underwent a variety of treatments, she looked out his hospital window and found inspiration to create artwork.
Swarthmore Borough Hall is currently displaying her artwork in a temporary exhibit.
