Local food recovery nonprofit Fiorenza’s Food For Friends is taking the reins of the annual West Chester Chili Cook-Off, according to a staff report from The Daily Local News.
The event will take place from noon to 4 PM on Sunday, Oct. 6 on West Gay Street.
“Together, with participants from West Chester and beyond, we hope to carry on the Rotary Club of West Chester’s legacy of building community and giving back to those in need,” said Brenda Russell, executive director and CEO of Fiorenza. “Over 50 teams, comprised of restaurants, businesses, hometown cooks, and nonprofits, bring their best chili recipes and vie for the coveted People’s Choice Award.”
The new hosts are currently searching for competitors, sponsors, and vendors.
According to the nonprofit, the West Chester Chili Cook-Off provides a new way to support Fiorenza’s Food For Friends’ efforts and the battle against hunger while also enjoying some friendly competition.
This year will see the addition of a beer garden that is planned to be located on Church Street between Gay and Chestnut streets.
