On Jun. 24, the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) expanded its Coatesville Link bus route, returning scheduled public transportation to the Coatesville YMCA.
This new stop is the result of a strategic partnership between TMACC and the YMCA of Greater Brandywine to enhance accessibility and equity for residents in Chester County, beginning specifically for residents in and around the City of Coatesville.
The new stop will join the Coatesville Link route, and individuals who take the bus to the Coatesville YMCA are eligible for a free voucher for their return trip throughout the summer months. Senior 65 and older citizens ride for free on all ChescoBus transit routes.
“This is a vital link connecting the people of Coatesville, especially the youth, to a tremendous community resource,” stated Tim Phelps, Executive Director of TMACC. “The Coatesville YMCA offers numerous programs that promote health, wellness, and personal development. By restoring public transportation to the Y, we are ensuring that everyone in our community has the opportunity to benefit from these essential services.”
“We are thrilled to add the Coatesville YMCA to the network of affordable public transportation options in Chester County,” said Bertram L. Lawson, II, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. We look forward to continuing to work with TMACC to expand service options at our Jennersville YMCA so that members of our community can benefit from convenient and reliable transportation options and access to the YMCA’s extensive programs and services.”
Improving Accessibility
The addition of a scheduled bus stop at the Coatesville YMCA is a significant step forward in making YMCA services and facilities more accessible to those who rely on public transportation. Many community members, including seniors, teens, and families are without access to a car.
“We are very excited about this new partnership with TMACC,” said Jess Rigo, Executive Director of the Coatesville YMCA. “The new bus stop will make a profound difference in the lives of our members and the broader community. It’s not just about providing transportation; it’s about opening doors to opportunities for health, wellness, and connection.”
The YMCA believes everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. The Y is strategically pursuing partnerships with health and community organizations as well as opportunities to bring programming to communities who may otherwise find it difficult to access services.
Community Impact
The Coatesville Link is a scheduled fixed bus route that offers improved connectivity to key destinations between the YMCA and the Parkesburg Library, including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and employment centers. This comprehensive approach to transportation planning ensures that all residents can access the services they need to lead healthy and productive lives.
The Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) is a 501c4 membership-based organization that is dedicated to improving mobility options, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing air quality for the residents, businesses, and visitors of Chester County.
