Taylor Haas, a Chester County native, recently took the reins at the Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden Agricultural Society in Massachusetts as its new executive director, writes Alexander Macdougall for the Daily Hampshire Gazette.

The nonprofit organization manages Northampton’s Three County Fair and its fairgrounds.

Haas started horseback riding at a young age in Chester County. She later competed in horse hunter and jumper shows and also organized several herself. This love for horses is one of the reasons why she accepted her new position.

“I kind of built this affinity for agriculture from my love of horses,” said Haas. “I would say what really excited me about this role was the opportunity to support the horse industry, the equestrian industry, as well as plan for events that support the community of Northampton.”

Haas became executive director for the nonprofit last month. Since then, she has been busy planning this year’s event. Three County Fair will feature some new additions this year, including expanded food options, alongside all the usual favorites.

“What’s really special about the fair is, it’s just traditional, what you think of when it comes to a county fair,” she said.
