Westtown School Freshman Forward Jordyn Palmer Headed to International Women’s World Cup
At just 15 years old, Westtown School freshman forward Jordyn Palmer will compete in the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Mexico for Team USA next month, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The talented 6-2 player was named Pennsylvania’s Gatorade Player of the Year in March as she helped her team win a fourth consecutive Friends School League crown and a third Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association title in a row.
“Jordyn is the most dominant high school basketball player I’ve ever seen,” said Shipley School coach Ellen Blair. Her “ability to impact the game in every way blows you away.”
Palmer is focusing on developing her skills on the perimeter this summer to expand her offensive versatility.
Next, she will continue her training in early July with the 12-member U.S. team ahead of the World Cup.
“Just being part of the USA Basketball program and seeing how they carry themselves, the responsibility that comes along with having USA on the front of your jersey, all of those things are ways to accelerate her maturity,” said Westtown coach Fran Burbridge.
