The Colonial Theatre is embarking on an exciting campaign to preserve the magic of cinema by bringing the beloved film That Thing You Do! to the big screen in its original 35mm format.

As part of its ongoing efforts to celebrate the art of filmmaking and preserve the tradition of celluloid, The Colonial Theatre invites the public to join in and support this special initiative.

Directed and written by Tom Hanks, That Thing You Do! is a delightful journey through the music industry of the 1960s, following the meteoric rise of The Wonders, a fictional pop band from Erie, Pennsylvania. With its infectious charm and toe-tapping tunes, this film captures the essence of a bygone era while delivering timeless entertainment.

Repertory week marks the kickoff of the Theatre’s campaign to raise $1,500 by Jun. 14, which will cover the upfront costs required to bring That Thing You Do! to The Colonial. As one of the few theaters in America still showcasing 35mm films, The Colonial is committed to preserving cinematic history and providing its audience with an unparalleled viewing experience.

By contributing to this campaign, you’re not only helping The Colonial bring That Thing You Do! to life on the big screen but also supporting the Theatre’s ongoing efforts to maintain its status as one of the 2 percent of American theaters that continues to show 35mm films. The public’s generosity ensures that future generations can experience the magic of celluloid as it was meant to be seen.
