Rothman Orthopaedic Institute’s Dr. Michael Ciccotti Honored For 30 Years of Service as Phillies Team Physician
The Philadelphia Phillies recently honored and recognized its long-time team physician, Dr. Michael Ciccotti, who is retiring from the team after 30 years.
He is also the director of sports medicine at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
For 25 of his years with the team, Ciccotti served as the head team physician and medical doctor.
“I have been incredibly honored and humbled to be able to participate in the medical care of the Philadelphia Phillies for the past 30 years. During that time, I have seen tremendous advances in the care of sports medicine injuries in the elite athlete, and I’ve been so proud to be part of the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute Medical Team that has been at the forefront of developing those advancements,” said Dr. Michael Ciccotti.
Throughout his tenure, Ciccotti has been a pillar of support for the team, helping ensure the health and well-being of the players with unwavering commitment and expertise.
To honor his contributions, the Phillies gifted Ciccotti with a custom-framed glove that includes accolades of the great players he has cared for over the past three decades. This is the first time the Phillies have awarded the glove to a non-player.
“These 30 years have been a truly outstanding experience for me and my entire family … and we thank the Phillies for allowing us to be part of the best organization in Major League Baseball,” Ciccotti added.
Rothman Orthopaedics has cared for elite level athletes longer than any other practice in the region.
Upon his retirement, Ciccotti will transition to a consultancy with the Phillies.
