YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s Summer Camp Gives Kids a Taste of Summer

Last Sunday, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine held Summer Camp Open Houses, giving kids and parents a taste of summer amid the cold winter weather.

Voted #1 by Daily Local News Reader’s Choice Awards in 2015, the Y’s summer camps offer an array of options for preschoolers through teens, ranging from traditional fun day camps to imaginative weekly themes such as Super Heroes Unite and the Brandy Olympics.

There are also sports camps where kids can choose from activities such as tennis and Ultimate Frisbee, as well as specialty camps such Performing Arts and the Pony Camp, ensuring there is something for everyone.

“Summer at the Y means fun,” said Roberto Valera, who oversees youth program development at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, adding that “there really is no better place for a child to grow and learn.”

Chester County Art Association Hosts TCHS Brandywine’s Student Exhibit

The work of tomorrow’s designers is being showcased by the Chester County Art Association by featuring the work of senior students from the commercial and graphic arts program at Brandywine‘s Technical College High School.

The arts program that inspired these works is based on the industry standard that prepares students for admission and continuing art education as well as entry-level positions in graphic communications.

The program teaches students the basics of design and color theory, page layout, and lettering and the production skills needed for the printing industry, while the advanced study class teaches computer graphic design skills. Students who complete the program end up with a complete portfolio of their work for potential future education or employment.

The exhibition is on display at the Exton Square Gallery in the Exton Square Mall and will run until February 4th on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rothman Institute to Open Offices in Malvern and Glen Mills

The Rothman Institute has announced two new offices in Philadelphia’s western suburbs, Rothman Institute Malvern and Rothman Institute Glen Mills. Once construction is complete, each of the offices will offer the full range of orthopedic subspecialty care and services.

Rothman Institute Glen Mills will be situated in the Shoppes at Brinton Lakes on Evergreen Drive, while the new Malvern office will be located in the Upper Worthington Urban Village.

Both new facilities will feature state-of-the-art exam rooms and on-site x-ray rooms, physical therapy, hand therapy as well as orthotics, and are expected to open in the second half of this year.

“Our team is very excited about opening these two new offices,” said Mike West, CEO of Rothmans Institute. “The Malvern office will give us an opportunity to grow into the Chester County region and further develop our presence at Paoli Hospital.”
