Malvern-based Vanguard Group is planning to consolidate its Charlotte, North Carolina, operations at the new office campus it recently acquired there for $117 million, writes Elise Franco for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 700,000-square-foot University City office complex will house more than 2,400 employees. It is located in University Research Park, the second-largest employment center in Charlotte. The 91-acre office campus was originally intended for Centene’s East Coast headquarters.

Vanguard employees in Charlotte currently work from several buildings, such as Water Ridge Office Park close to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The new offices are expected to open next year. The site will include collaboration spaces and a conference center, as well as a full-service cafeteria, outdoor eating and walking areas, charging stations for electric vehicles, and a fitness center.

While the campus is being finalized, Vanguard employees will continue to work from their current offices.

“The campus will support the working arrangements for our more than 2,400 crew members in the Charlotte region, with room to grow if needed,” said Alyssa Thornton, Vanguard spokesperson. “[Most] importantly, we look forward to more in-office collaboration as a result of bringing our crew together onto one campus.”
