‘New Approach to an American Bar’: Phoenixville’s Beverage Wall at Rivertown Taps
Wall of beer? Say less. At Rivertown Taps, you can self-serve beer from the tap wall — the first of its kind in Phoenixville, writes Timothy Walton for 6ABC.
The building housing Rivertown Taps dates back to the 1880s and is in Phoenixville’s historic district. The project was started by chef Lewis Leiterman and his father-in-law, Gary Strayer, calling it “a new approach to an American bar.”
They even saved some of the history of the building such as the wood underbar giving a peak at the original brick, and utilizing nails from the original Phoenixville Foundry to hold beer flight boards.
There are 36 different kinds of rotating drinks offered on the tap wall including wine, craft beers, kombucha, mead, and seltzers. Plus, you have the choice of adding how much of the beverage you want to your cup without worrying about a full pour. Each ounce is added appropriately to your tab.
“There’s no waiting, you just go up and pour yourself another one,” said Strayer.
Some of the elevated gastropub menu items include duck wings and pork belly burnt ends that come with fresh ginger and cucumber salad.
They also have live music to enjoy.
