Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital held a flag-raising ceremony to honor organ donors, recipients, and promote organ donation awareness.

Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital (CCH) hosted a flag-raising ceremony on Wednesday, Apr. 10, with members of CCH leadership and hospital staff in attendance, to honor organ donors and recipients and to educate the public on the importance of organ donation.

Supporters of organ, eye, and tissue donation celebrate April as National Donate Life Month. CCH staff were encouraged to wear blue and green to share the Donate Life message and promote the importance of registering as an organ, eye, and tissue donor.

“It’s so important to spread the word and educate the Chester County community about organ donation,” said Michael Duncan, President and CEO of Chester County Hospital. “The continued participation from our staff and clinical teams is vital to our efforts. We raise the flag to honor those who not only have received an organ donation but to those who are organ donors as well.”

In addition to the flag-raising ceremony, CCH will also display a luminary bag memorial in the Medallion Lobby of the hospital from Apr. 24-26 to honor the memories of those who gave the gift of life.
