A Chester County school is ranked among the country’s best boarding schools, according to data from the website Stacker.

West Chester’s Westtown School made no. 79 on the list.  

The esteemed school was founded by Quakers in 1799 as a co-educational institution. It serves grades Pre-K to 12 and is fully accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools. 

The website boasts of an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio and is the oldest continuously operating co-ed boarding school in the States. Tuition and board are $63,650 but 44 percent receive aid, which can amount to an average of $27,000.  

The student body is a small pool of 694 students in total. According to its website, 100 percent of Westtown graduates get accepted into colleges. The 600-acre campus offers a lake with a beach and boathouse, arboretum, organic farm, faculty housing, a gymnasium and multiple athletic facilities.  

There are 24 varsity teams and 45 clubs for students to choose from as part of their extracurricular activities.
