West Chester Porchfest 2024 is returning on May 18 with over 70 bands signed up, crafts, and activities available for anyone of all ages to enjoy, writes staff for The Daily Local News.

Last year, porchfest drew around 6,000 attendees, both adults and children. The event will have different porch colors so those strolling around town will be able to tell who is offering what — if not the sounds of jamming and vibing music.

The West Chester Green Team’s “green” porches will offer native plants and information on creating native wildflower gardens. They will also have a porch will vintage clothing to do clothing swaps.

At Everhart Park, Diane Matthews School of Dance will host a dance class for all ages called Jazz – Hip Hop Dance Fusion. Dance students will put on a show for audiences in styles ranging from lyrical to hip hop, and invite people to join in.

Additionally, there will be more activities for children as the few that there were last year drew lots of attention. Some crafts and fun things to do include children’s author Sally Coveleskie reading and signing her books on Dean Street and Celebration of Japan.

At this craft, Professors Fumiyo Kobayashi Batta of Widener University and Reiko Yoshida from Temple University will supply the community with origami paper crafts, Japanese music and snacks, and kimono dressing opportunities.

The full list of information will be available by May 11 here.
