Sight & Sound Theatres in Lancaster County has officially launched its years-in-the-making production of DANIEL. The 65-person-cast retells the biblical story – whose faith-filled hope triumphs over every adversity, from a fiery furnace to the infamous den of lions – in a unique immersive setting.

Initially founded as a small theater 48 years ago, Sight & Sound’s current venue boasts a 300-foot wrap-around stage and can accommodate over 2,000 guests.

Its mission is to bring true stories of redemption to life on stage and on screen that reveal the power of the Gospel. On stage in Lancaster this year Sight & Sound plans to bring to life the biblical story of Daniel being exiled from his home in the kingdom of Babylon.

The journey to bring DANIEL to the stage was a meticulous process that spanned over four years.

The first year was dedicated to in-depth research, not only delving into the biblical narrative itself but also exploring the historical context surrounding the events.

This foundation paved the way for the design and build phase, where sets and props begin to take shape.

Rehearsals follow from there, and the story of Daniel, rich with traditional elements and authenticity, is ready to be brought to life.

The set design incorporates 3 story tall sets and LED screens to enhance the experience. A cast of live animals also roam on stage and throughout the aisles at points during the performance.

Beyond the limelight, an additional 125 professionals work diligently behind the scenes. Together, they ensure every aspect of the production meets the highest standards of excellence throughout the over 400 performances of DANIEL that will take this place year

“We love to welcome guests into this environment,” says Sara Murphy, Vice President of Brand Development.

“We really value everybody who is coming to visit us,” she says.

The production of DANIEL will run through December 31, 2024.
