Oppenheimer recently garnered seven Oscars, including the prestigious Best Picture for the portrayal of the “Father of the Atomic Bomb” J. Robert Oppenheimer, writes Dino Ciliberti for Patch.

However, the physicist had a tangible link to George School in Newtown back in 1956. 

At the time, Oppenheimer led the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, while his son Peter embarked on his freshman year at the George School. 

Invited by the school’s head, Robert McFeely, Oppenheimer addressed the graduating class, offering insights into the role of science in contemporary society with a talk titled “Science and our Times.”
