Westtown School alum Mo Bamba looks to gain a bigger role on the Philadelphia 76ers after a rocky start to the season.

The Philadelphia 76ers player Mo Bamba, who graduated from Westtown School in West Chester, has had a less than stellar 2023-2024 season, writes Ky Carlin for Sixers Wire.

Bamba has been averaging 11 minutes per game, which is the fewest of his career, and has only played in 37 games. He has been the third-string center behind Joel Embiid and Paul Reed

However, with Embiid out, Bamba has stepped into a bigger role, despite dealing with a knee injury. His season average is 3.9 points and 3.8 rebounds, but after starting in last Friday’s 121-114 win against the Charlotte Hornets, he pulled off eight rebounds and two blocks.

“It felt good,” he said of the start. “It’s something I talked to the coaches about all year. It’s a matter of time and just staying ready for the opportunity.”

Back in December, he admitted he thought he received a “raw deal” regarding his playing time, but he has chosen to remain a good sport and true professional, setting his focus on helping the Sixers succeed.

“You just lose yourself in the team,” Bamba said. “You lose yourself in trying to do everything you can to win whether it’s my impact on the bench talking to guys or if it’s on the floor just running out there.”
