Virginia Martino, head coach of women's lacrosse at West Chester University, has been selected for the coaches’ Hall of Fame for 2024.

Virginia “Ginny” Martino, head coach of women’s lacrosse at West Chester University, has been selected for the coaches’ Hall of Fame for 2024 by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), writes Chris Goldberg for Philly Lacrosse.

Named as a titan in NCAA women’s lacrosse, Martino has spent 28 years as a coach, with 26 of them being a head coach. With two national championships and 385 wins under her belt, she is set to become only the eighth coach in women’s lacrosse history to win 400 games later in the 2024 season. This is also the third-best in Division II history.

“I am incredibly honored to be selected for induction into the IWLCA Hall of Fame,” said Martino. “To be named alongside two coaches for whom I have the utmost respect is truly a humbling moment for me. I am blessed to have the best job in the world. I love what I do, as well as the players, coaches, families, and alumni who continue to support WCU Lacrosse.

In addition to the national titles, Martino and her teams have won 14 conference titles and went to the national semifinals 11 times. She has won four league coach of the year honors and two national coach of the year awards.
