You Can’t Bring Your Old Self with You to Achieve New Goals

Are you off to your best year yet?

Have you clearly defined your three top priorities for 2024?

Have you created written and specific goals to achieve those priorities?

Are you reviewing your goals every day and identifying the most important activity to move that goal forward?

These questions are just the beginning. To achieve a bigger and brighter future and achieve your goals, the real question to ask is a question of self-leadership.

Who do you have to become to achieve what you really want in 2024; what really matters most to you? What attributes do you want to be more and what attributes do you want to be less to really knock your goals out of the ballpark?

The secret ingredient that nobody really talks about to achieve your goals is that you must engage your assets and minimize your biases. Your biases got you where you are today, but they are not going to get you to the next level in the game of life.

History shows that 85 percent to 90 percent of people won’t take these simple action steps to get where they want to go. None of these actions are considerably difficult, but it is amazing how strong current biases, which are habitual ways of thinking, are driving the ship. We have been hijacked by our biases, and we are basically running on automatic pilot, which makes it difficult to achieve greater and more exciting goals.

Without getting intentional about addressing your biases and engaging your assets, this year is just going to be a repeat of last year. One of my mentors, Paul J. Meyer of Success Motivation Institute, said, “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten!”

But the world is moving too fast, so if we keep doing what we have done in the past, we are going to get terrible results. The only way to change your results is to consciously and deliberately change your thinking, so that you can change your behavior, leading to new results. The real challenge is: How do we know what our biases and assets are, so we can capitalize and make this year our best year so far? Learn more at Achievable.com, and check out this worksheet below.
