The construction of the Indigo Hotel on Gay Street in West Chester has started, and according to Scott Zukin of Zukin Realty, “everything is going smoothly,” writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

As some residents may feel like construction is never-ending, they will be glad to know that the 110-room hotel is now expected to be open by the end of the year.

“I feel like my new name is, ‘Hi Scott, when will the hotel be done?’” joked Zukin.

He added that the builder, GGA, of Delaware, and everybody else who is involved in the construction have a great attitude. The hotel is being constructed at the former site of Thatcher’s.

“We are super excited to see stair and elevator towers rising,” said Zukin.

The upscale hotel and a restaurant that is yet to be named will not be “Plain Jane,” explained Zukin, but they will come with the feel of Chester County and West Chester.

“It will be specifically West Chester designed–around West Chester,” he said.
