Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital (CCH) has recognized several outstanding employees for their hard work and dedication through their annual employee leadership recognition program: Leaders of the Year, Everyday Hero, and Spirit of Belonging awards.

The Leader of the Year Award is presented to team members who exemplify the system’s values at CCH, including delivering the highest level of quality care and services to our patients, responsibly using resources, and cultivating a collaborative and inclusive team approach.

For 2023, the CCH Leaders of the Year were Katie Scanlon, Emergency Department Clinical Manager, and Heather Teufel, Director of Pharmacy.

Described by her peers as “hands-on,” Scanlon was awarded for her proactive problem-solving and innovative solutions, developing well-being opportunities for staff, including a hallway coloring board for stress relief, and implementing a cost-effective strategy for patients who need blood patches.

Teufel was recognized for her commitment to quality improvement and creating a culture of excellence. Her accomplishments include improving drug diversion prevention, assisting with the CCH Pharmacy Residency program’s accreditation process, and leading efforts that have reduced pharmaceutical expenses by hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Presented to a member of CCH who consistently represents the qualities of servant leadership, the 2023 recipient of the Everyday Hero Award was Moira Meyreles, Associate Chief Human Resource Officer at CCH. Meyreles was recognized for consistently putting the needs of others before her own, including driving new employees to health appointments and assisting students in after-school programs.

The CCH Spirit of Belonging Award is an annual award given to the individual who goes beyond expectations to create and support an open, inclusive, and equitable work environment for all members. The 2023 recipient of the Spirit of Belonging Award was Ayesha Gonsalves, Team Lead Clinical Informations, for her dedication to creating meaningful connections amongst her colleagues and creating an inclusive and innovative atmosphere.
